Erasmus Plus
Since 1987 the Erasmus Plus programme has enabled millions of people of all ages and backgrounds to participate in school and youth exchanges, vocational training, social volunteering, academic study, and many other kinds of international projects. Erasmus Plus has also supported thousands of transnational partnerships enabling knowledge transfer and innovation in education, training, youth work and lifelong learning.
Erasmus Plus prioritises participation of people with fewer opportunities by reason of their economic, educational, social or other circumstances. The programme helps build the capacity of the education sector to meet the changing skills needs of the 21st century economy. Its core thematic priorities such as the green transition, digital innovation, social inclusion, and participation in democratic life align closely with current UK government policies
The decision at the May 2025 EU-UK Summit to work towards the re-entry of the UK into the programme is warmly welcomed. This will be an important step forward both for education and skills development in the UK and for our political, economic and cultural relationships with other countries. By enhancing young people’s education, employability and civic engagement, Erasmus Plus will help build a safer, fairer and more prosperous society.

The Campaign
The National Campaign for Erasmus Plus aims to mobilise support for the UK’s full participation in the programme and to encourage the government to make this happen as soon as possible.
The campaign brings together a broad coalition of organisations and individuals under the auspices of the European Movement UK. A steering committee, including experts from all sectors of education, coordinates the campaign, shares information and resources, and encourages participation: anyone can join the campaign and take whatever action is right for them.
